How to watch Prime IPTV on Roku

We'll be straight with you: Roku is the hardest device for IPTV. Roku limits what apps can do, so the good players like TiviMate aren't available. You still have options, and one of them costs less than a month of cable.

Step by step

  1. 01

Option 1: a player from the Roku Channel Store

Search the Roku Channel Store for an IPTV player, such as the Prime IPTV channel. Like the TV versions on Samsung and LG, these show a device ID and key; link your playlist on the developer's website or send the details to us.

  2. 02

    Option 2: screen mirroring

On the Roku, turn on Settings, System, Screen mirroring. Then cast from an Android phone running IPTV Smarters, or use AirPlay from an iPhone if your Roku supports it. Your phone does the work, the Roku just shows it.

  3. 03

    Option 3: a second stick

Plug a Fire TV Stick or a Google TV Streamer into another HDMI port and follow that guide. It's the setup we'd recommend if you'll watch a lot of live sport.

Things that help

  • Mirroring drains your phone and drops the picture to the phone's resolution. Fine for an evening, not ideal for every night.
  • Roku Channel Store listings come and go. If a player disappears, its developer usually still supports devices that already have it installed.

Roku questions

What's the cheapest way to get a better experience on a Roku TV?

A basic Fire TV Stick in the TV's spare HDMI port. It often costs less than a month of cable and runs TiviMate.
